Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes arrives from Alt Shift, the developers behind Crying Suns, and immediately carries traces of that studio’s earlier work into the Battlestar Galactica universe.

The setting proves to be an excellent match for the roguelite structure. Rather than focusing solely on combat, the game balances fleet survival, resource management, and faction relationships while pushing players through an uncertain and constantly evolving campaign.

One of the more surprising elements is the depth given to the civilian fleet under the player’s protection. Ships can be improved to provide resources for the fleet, host events that impact your decisions at every stop and need to be protected in combat, adding weight to long-term decision making beyond simply winning battles.

Combat itself proved enjoyable throughout the session, while it appears runs may present different approaches depending on available ships, upgrades, and unfolding circumstances. This flexibility gives the game a strong sense of replayability and experimentation.

What began as a sponsored segment ultimately extended well beyond its planned runtime, with enough promise shown to justify future deployments.

Battlestar Galactica: Scattered Hopes is therefore recorded as Alive.

The fleet survives. Well, it didn’t but the game did.

The jump coordinates remain active.

Pronouncement: Still very much alive.
